A While Back...

When I was growing up I used to be real terrified to go to sleep. I always remember having to have a light on and music playing in order for my mind to let myself sleep.

Lately I have been really really jumpy. It really is quite annoying because I am not normally jumpy. I might get scared but I'm not ever jumpy.

I was reading in the lounge of the dorm, everyone had gone off to Calgary for a wedding, and as I was reading I heard this scratching. Not the sort of scratching you hear against wood, or metal...it was unique-different.

So I didn't move. I was determined to discover - without looking - what the sound was coming from. As I am intently listening to this sound the whole dorm is far past quiet. I don't think I have ever been in a place that makes as little noise as our dorm does right now.

So I'm listening away - finding great pleasure in trying to figure out what this noise is. All of a sudden,

!!SNAP!!

My heart did a bloody back flip.

one of the 8 mouse traps we have set up went off...of course there was no reason for it to go off...no mouse...nothing..It just went off.

I spent the rest of the day jumpy as ... well ... a touchy mouse trap. For someone who isn't normally jumpy...boy was it annoying.

However - because I went to bed with music on (cuz I'm a scaredy cat)- this morning I woke up to the silky voice of Mr. Nat King Cole. Talk about starting the day on the right foot...

p.s - the scratching was from a whole that leads to our counter top. This is an access point that the mice like to use - near everyday. We had taped it up with packing tape so they couldn't get in.

A cleaver little mousie was nibbeling the tap and was near through. When i finally looked his face was stuck to the tap....hahaha...it was deeply humourous catching him and then watching him as he slowly peeled his face off of the tap....poor guy...wonder if he has any wiskers left....
*snicker*
